Texas Design Week Houston Kicks Off Next Week
All next week, top interior designers from around the country will be flocking to Houston for a series of talks, panel discussions, lectures, and shoppable markets for the Texas Design Week in Houston. From masterclasses with Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson at Circa Lighting to the PaperCity Design Awards winners announcement, the week is going to be full of exciting events not to be missed. Mark Gibson Named JLL’s CEO of Capital Markets, Americas
Jones Lang LaSalle announced it will purchase the Dallas-based commercial real estate capital firm HFF in a $2 billion deal. Mark Gibson, CEO of HFF, will join JLL as CEO for capital markets in the Americas and as cochair for the global capital markets board. The acquisition is part of JLL’s plan to double the company’s capital markets business. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2019.

Parachute Opens Dallas Store
Parachute, the millennial-favorite brand for minimalist bedding and bath essentials, has opened a shop at 4539 Travis Street, in Dallas’s Knox District. The Dallas outpost is Parachute’s first in Texas. The space’s previous tenant was a pop-up for athleisure brand Outdoor Voices, which inhabited it from 2016 to 2018.

Dwell with Dignity Begins Annual Fundraiser
Dallas-based nonprofit Dwell with Dignity will open the annual Thrift Studio pop-up shop from April 5 to 27 to raise money for the charity. The opening-night party is scheduled for April 4 at the Dallas Design Center. The event, which provides a third of Dwell with Dignity’s operating budget since 2011, will sell donated furniture, housewares, and high-end décor arranged in displays by leading designers, showrooms, and retailers. One hundred percent of sales from Thrift Studio will benefit Dwell with Dignity’s mission to supply those in need with home furnishings to help combat poverty and homelessness.

Allen Center Enters Next Phase of Renovations
Brookfield Properties announced Phase II of the renovation plans for the Allen Center office complex in downtown Houston. Morrison Dilworth + Walls and PDR will serve as architects for Phase II of the project. Beginning in early April, the construction will bring redesigned, light-filled lobbies to Two and Three Allen Center, along with an outdoor terrace, updated retail units, and a sky bridge connecting the properties.
